A souvenir, perhaps?
The artisans supplement the donations and funding they receive by selling tiles to the trickle of tourists that visit. The money goes towards simple materials such as paper and pencils for the pattern makers.
The mosque’s doors are open to all visitors, except during namaz, the five daily prayer times mandated by Islam. The tile workshop can be found in its southeast corner. Entrance is free, but donations are much appreciated. (Credit: Alexandra Reynolds)
